And so it begins....

Well, we are 4 hours away from July 1, the official start of rotations. I'm sitting in my new apartment, listening  to Howie Day, courtesy of a very loud Lincoln Park Music Festival and very thin walls. Lucky for me I only have a very chill orientation day tomorrow and I'm not hitting the hospitals yet. That's for Tuesday, so one more day to sweat it out. To say I'm nervous would kind of be an understatement, but honestly, in some ways it still hasn't even hit me yet that we're semi-heading out into the real world. No more classrooms, no more lots of free-time-and-afternoons-but-truly-we-should-be-studying. Not even weekends off anymore. It's a scary thought that probably won't hit me until 8am Tuesday when I'm standing in the hospital in my white coat with my pockets weighed down with so much crap for those "just in case" moments of panic, which will probably be 4 times an hour.
I have to admit, the scariest thing about it is going in not knowing whether or not I even passed boards. That, and the fact that starting with a four week rotation means no wiggle room, no slacking at all. Hit the ground running is essential, and yet I feel so lost. I don't know what books to use, I don't know where anything is, including the hospital, and it's a scary thought to be more responsible for real patients 6 days a week, instead of the previous 4 days out of an entire school year. It's quite the balance shift.
But for better or worse, in 12 hours M3 year begins.

Hi Kelsey! Been silently reading your blog XD So not trying to make you panic more... but what happens if you don't pass the board? do you retake it/get held back a year or something??
But anyway like you said... no point worrying about it now since you won't know for another 4-8 weeks... take a breather :D my philosophy nowadays is don't worry abt anything until it happens LOL. good luck and I hope you're enjoying your apartment! :)

Hey! I'm honored you've been keeping up with my meager posts :)
If I don't pass I have to miss at least a rotation to retake the boards and I can't continue until I pass. B/c it's so hard to make up rotations, most people tend to hold back a year...most people do pass the first time though, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed...read somewhere we may find out on the 10th, which is only a week and a half away! Eeeeeee.
PS- have you tried out your Danskos shoes yet that you blogged about buying? I bought a pair too, but not the clogs :) Hope you're enjoying your summer break! You do get a break right?

lol i forgot to check back here! haha. I'm using bloglovin now and i follow a lot less ppl here so it's easier for me to keep up now ;) so I assume you already found out on the 10th?

Yes I have! I wore them to my rotation. The clog was very comfortable for standing, although kind of clunky for walking. My feet feel a lot less achy at the end of the day, but my lower back still aches a bit, but that's loads loads loads better than my normal shoes/tennis shoes LOL. what did you get? do you like them? i do like mine :P

i'm actually in taiwan at the moment lol! we have 2 rotations the summer going from P2 to P3, but I got my other rotation assigned to winter break ='( so I did one over the summer and I will be doing my other one this winter. i wish I could've done both in the summer ><
